For short courses we offer assistance up to £500 per course but only 4 awards per year, whether it would be reasonable to expect someone to wait until the following year if the fund had been exhausted is another matter. The other option was to put up the costs for all courses but no one was happy to do this.
We had 2 deaf students wanting to do an ECDL course, 3 hours per week for 20 weeks I think it was, with an interpreter and a note-taker, when we started discussing costs everyone started getting a little concerned hence the award. Sheila Watts
