I think it would be treading on very dodgy ground to indicate different
levels of support for different levels of dyslexia. Every student will have
a different combination of difficulties all working at varying levels of
capability, that is why it is strongly recommended that students receive
individualised teaching plans.
I often get comments from lecturers saying that one dyslexic student seems
to be coping well enough without any support whilst another is "milking the
system" for all he/she can get. All I can say to this is that those students
with the confidence and conviction to get through it themselves, may often
be working 4 times as hard as a non-dyslexic student to achieve the same
thing, and this will never be reflected in their grades. Others feel that
they would be better suited to using that time constructively, by getting
support. In the end it has to be the student's choice as to the level of
support they receive and we have to treat all of them equally.
Hope this helps

Subject: Levels of dyslexia
Dear all
I was wondering if anyone has been asked to indicate the levels of dyslexia
to academics and what support should be provided to respond to the level?
I have some concerns about this and your experiences and thoughts would be
appreciated!
many thanks
James
