Dear Kirsty,
Stirling University have an integrated Student Info & Support Department
(Disability/Student Finance/International/Welfare/Counselling - with shared
reception and administrative support), where there is frequent
interdepartmental referrals. We think this provides the most effective,
accessible & holistic approach to students support. One particular advantage
I have felt is the ease of referrals for benefits advice among our disabled
students and applicants. It's also of course so easy for students to access
the appropriate person, through the shared reception). Integrated services
come highly recommended!

For the attention of those members of disability services who are located
within Student Services departments.
I'd be grateful for any feedback / thoughts on 'integrated student
services', ie those where departments work closely together, perhaps sharing
a reception / offices / make regular inter-departmental referrals.
I'd also like to hear of positive / negative experiences of the student and
staff experience of a more 'separate' approach.
Thanks in anticipation.
