I have been asked for health & safety purposes if it would be Ok to video on
a particular site in order to do an audit of the site e.g. to identify staff
not wearing personal protective equipment or vehicles making unsafe
maneouvres. I have been told that any photos/video footage captured would
not be used for disciplinary purposes...hmmm...
My question is - is this legal - or is it a bit like e-mail monitoring - you
would have to inform individuals that you would in fact be videoing the
site? I also have reservations as to any disciplinary proceedings as if
someone was told he/she had not been wearing a helmet and repeatedly this
happened surely disciplinary would have to come into the matter at some
point...
I would have thought that this would have been part of a contract but
obviously not...
Any views again greatly appreciated....
