Further to this earlier e-mail, I have spoken with OIC's Office who were
unable to help me on this one. I then telephoned the Pension Scheme who
agreed that perhaps their procedures should be changed and any letter
requesting this information should also be copied to the parent. I believe
the parent had telephoned on this occasion to ask why the pension had been
stopped and thereafter had given the address of the school.
I am surprised no one on this list had received any such requests.

Subject: Children in Receipt of Pensions

One of our schools has received a letter from a specific pension
scheme
asking whether the child is still in full-time education i.e. 12
hours or
more per week. The child has been in receipt of a pension. A form
has been
attached so that we can provide the details - I presume this is
treated in
the same manner as child benefit office who ask for clarification in
order
that they are not paying out child benefit when a child has in fact
left
school or would it depend on the specific circusmtances of the case
i.e. I
presume in this case, the child may only receive the pension whilst
in
full-time education.
I would be grateful to hear from anyone with any similar enquiries.
