Subject: Disability Rights Commission: Focus Groups
Disability Rights Commission: Focus Groups
The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) is campaigning to improve choice
and opportunities for disabled children and their parents in education -
and your organisation, BCODP, may be able to help. To aid the success of
this Educating for Equality (E4E) campaign, we are recruiting members for
a series of Focus Groups.
To discuss educational experience and expectations of new rights from
September this year, we need:
* Parents of disabled children of any age;
* Parents of disabled children, specifically at primary/junior school;
* Disabled people aged 14-16 at secondary school;
* Disabled people aged 16-19 in further or higher education.
To discuss awareness of the new rights and responses to the Commission's
campaign messages, we need:
* Disabled children and Students;
* Teachers.
Could your organisation please recommend anyone in any of these categories
that we could approach with an invitation to take part, letting us have an
e-mail address or telephone number, please?
The groups will meet at central locations in either London or Birmingham,
each for no more than two hours, on Saturday 13 July 2002. There is a
small remuneration for taking part and all travel expenses will be
reimbursed (including those of any necessary carer).
Please contact me with a reply to this e-mail or by telephoning me on 0207
407 3313.
Thankyou,
Sarah Gaffney,
The Janice Muir Partnership
