Why don't they arrange to have the lecture recorded and to collect any
handouts/illustrations?
In such situations, we always ask the tutor to repeat any questions from the
floor before answering to ensure they are heard.

Subject: note taking when student is absent
I am looking for some advice, views or experience that some of you
may have had with regards to note takers being present when the
student is absent.
The student in question has a medical condition which means that her
joints / mobility are / is affected from time to time and she is unable to
attend college. She has a note taker (funded through her DSA) and the
needs assessment strongly recommended that the note taker takes
notes even in her absence. This has resulted in some debate here.
I would be happy to hear from others who have experienced a similar
situation or even have a policy to cover such eventualities.
Many thanks
Pat
