Colleagues,
An idea has been broached for Congregation Ceremonies to be video streamed
and available on the web to all with the software to see it.
My initial assumption? 'This is personal data' and 'This is also sensitive
personal data' (race, ethnic origin)
My initial reaction? Identify and register the purpose - Seek explicit
consent of the data subject.
Further thought threw up 3rd party considerations e.g. You seek the consent
of the student and this is given, but the Uncle twice removed, who also
attended the ceremony and from whom consent was not sought... (make the rest
up)
In respect of the act itself Sch 3.1 and Sch 3.4.(d) are the ones that
seemed most relevant.
Question. The business reason for wanting to do this has yet to be clearly
articulated - but irrespectively, has anybody any thoughts on the matter -
any opinion gratefully received.
