Following previous posting - went back and checked the CRB website privacy
statement, which includes
* Your personal information is only processed with your knowledge
* Only information that we actually need is collected and processed
and a whole lot more, but nothing about India. On the Disclosures website,
buried away in the FAQ section under Data Protection, found:
Will any of my details be passed outside of the European Economic Area?
For the majority of applicants, personal data will not be passed outside the
EEA. However, if you have recently lived in The Channel Islands or Isle of
Man, it is likely that your personal data will be passed to police forces in
the area relevant to you. Although the Channel Islands and Isle of Man are
outside the EEA, the Information Commissioner has advised that they have
adequate data protection measures in place.
Just looked for DP register entry - checked under 'criminal records bureau'
and 'CRB' and using both of the Liverpool postcodes and found nothing.
Does that mean CRB in breach of DPA? Or are they covered by Home Office in
some way? What are the potential liabilities of using CRB for
pre-employment checks?
