Is this actually 'information sharing' or 'disclosure to a third party'?
Anyway, would a reference within your DP statement on the form to the fact
other agencies may be contacted and may use the information gained to
investigate potential fraud not cover that?
More to the point, though, I wonder why you intend circulation to other
agencies to verify the applicants benfit status. The IC has in the past
suggested that information including verification is best obtained by
reference to the data subject whenever practical.
Within Tyne & Wear a pass scheme gives free or reduced price public
transport depending on age or income. People have to take documents - birth
certificate, benefit book, income support statement, etc. as appropriate -
to prove their entitlement whenever they renew their pass.
Anyone on benefits or other taxation credits will have the appropriate
paperwork from the agency concerned to prove it, Kirsty.
