It would depend on whether the person was self-employed or on a contract.
The 'standard £30ish' would probably only apply to people paid on an hourly
basis....or I'm in the wrong job!

Subject: dyslexia tuition
Dear all
We are currently employing two dyslexia part time tutors. Our
personnel department has put them on an administrative grade
which pays poorly. How do other institutions get round this and pay
the "standard" £30ish!
Similarly we want to employ some graduate Support Workers as
academic mentors at £25 an hour. This has been approved by the
LEA but unfortunately is causing problems for personnel.
Any advice gratefully received
