I was wondering if anyone could help.
Are there any extra funding avenues which are available to students whose
personal helper costs are more than the DSA personal helper allowance?

Try Community Service Volunteers. I'm not in favour of reducing wages to
support staff who need to earn a wage but CSV run an excellent scheme paying
(often graduates) an allowance while they have a year in a role serving the
community.
