Subject: London Support Worker
Hi, I was hoping you could help me.
I am a first-year PhD student in the Geography Department at the
University of Sheffield. I am currently planning a two-month period
of
London based ethnographic fieldwork to begin in early July 2002.
I am a physically 'disabled student' and for day-to-day research
activities receive non-medical helper support from my funding body
(ESRC). For my research I have negotiated with a charity, based in
the
very centre of London (SW1P), to spend time in their headquarters
and
will therefore require some London based non-medical assistance. I
am
not a wheelchair user but I like to avoid steps/stairs wherever I
can!
I drive but will need accompanying on the daily journeys to and from
my
accommodation to the research site and may need assistance carrying
any
belongs to and from the building itself. There may also be other
times
where more prolonged assistance may be needed such as off-site
visits
(e.g. to a library or other research sites).
I was wondering if anyone had any ideas where I could start looking
for
somebody?
I'm sorry it is a little last minute but I would appreciate your
thoughts
Many thanks, Rebecca.
