Dear all, I am an MSc student at Sheffield University and am currently doing some research on the usability of screen-readers, with an emphasis on their use for internet access. The research question is: To what extent do screen-readers support the information -seeking behaviour of blind and visually impaired people? If you have any suggestions about the following I would very much like to hear from you. How easy are screen-readers to use? How easy are screen-readers to learn? How pleasant are screen readers to use? What are screen-readers good for? What is their function? What are screen-readers bad for? How do screen-readers compare with other means of information access (such as braille)? Are they more appropriate for different tasks? What is the experience of learning to use a screen-reader like?? Also if you know of anyone who uses their screen-reader in an unusual way, or if you have any ideas about the function and usability of screen-reader access to the internet, I would very much like to hear from you. Thank you for your time. Alisdair Connell [log in to unmask]
