It's up to the academics to decide whether it would be appropriate in their
particular discipline. At the end of the day the facts and information the
student gave on the exam script will still be the same when marked
a second time. If they were penalised for poor spelling and
grammar (which are common in many exam scripts anyway) the
tutors may be minded to review the mark given. But don't hold your
breath.
