Hi
Further to my previous email: a simplified alternative
a) Copy the speech user folder that you wish to transfer (unless you're
able to mail it across a network, you'll need to compress the folder,
put it onto a CD or some other method (my User folder is 57 Meg).
b)Open Dragon on the target machine
c) Create a new user with the same name as the copied user - but cancel
the enrolment process at the sound check stage.
d) Go to the User Folders in the Dragon Directory and replace the new
user with the incoming copy.
That should work, I reckon. Bear in mind though that that diffrent PCs
have different sound characteristics - so recognition might be less
effective on a different machine.
Given that it only takes about 6 or seven minutes (for an able reader)
to create and enrol a new voice (Using V5 on a reasonably quick
machine), I've never been tempted to transfer voice files. However, if
the user has an unusual voice or uses a lot of non-standard vocab, I can
see how training the software to the desired recognition level could
take a long time - in which case, voice file transfer becomes worthwhile.
