As far as I know, there is no funding for travel available but I'm not sure
that most students would receive much. If it were administered in the same
way as DSAs. Then this would be the scenario:
Additional Travel costs for students receiving a DSA are in theory unlimited
(there are no published figures and each case is treated on its merits).
Students are however, not entitled to all travel cost, just the *additional*
costs arising as a result of their disability. Hence, the awarding body (LEA)
is entitled to deduct the cost of travel: - if travelling by car (their own
or, for example, a parent) then the LEA would probably argue that they would
have done that anyway. If by public transport then there would probably not
be any additional cost unless they needed to be accompanied or needed a taxi
to/from the station.
Only in the case outlined by Claire below would there be any confusion over
whether discrimination existed. I guess the HEI would argue that the student
was being given an opportunity to explain and establish their needs.
I have no idea whether the transport issue is discrimination or not and do
not intend to get drawn into that argument but I think that any travel costs
awarded could be limited, even if funding were in theory available.

What would be the case if a Univ. had the policy of interviewing all
disabled (and only disabled) applicants? Would this discriminatory
(even if positive) policy mean that they should meet travel expenses
as disabled applicants are being asked to meet an expense that
non-disabled applicants are not required to pay?
