Yes, there is a SKILL NW group, chaired by Professor Alan Hurst from the
University of Central Lancashire.

Dear Steve
Like other correspondents I thought there was a branch of Skill based in the
North West.
There is also the possibility that a CLAUD-style group will be set up based
perhaps in Preston. If you do not know of CLAUD it is a consortium of
librarians dealing with disability matters affecting students in HE
libraries in
the South West and parts of the South who meet in the flesh two or three
times
a year. We also have our own website. Independent groups based on the
CLAUD model are also now being set up in some other parts of the country.
There is for instance one up and running in Wales. These groups are so far
limited to higher education institutions but because each group is
independent
there is nothing to stop them drawing their membership from elsewhere eg FE
colleges like yourselves. A while ago interest was expressed at the
University
of Central Lancashire in Preston in setting up such a consortium but I do
not
know what the current state of play is there. It might be worth your while
enquiring from them as to what is happening. As a CLAUD committee
member I would be quite interested to know the result!
Good wishes
