As a general rule I keep quiet on the forum, but I have to respond to this
string as it brings our name into the conversation.
I am the Managing Director of TintaVision, and would like to put the record
straight.
The DfES has issued a note authorising payment under DSA to TintaVision for
our Tuning process.
We have seen around 3000 clients referred by Access Centres to us, from 167
( one hundred and sixty seven ) LEAs, and we do not have ANY LEAs who do not
pay us.
At present, the only Access Centre in East Anglia DOES NOT refer students to
us.
Cambridgeshire have paid for a number of students already, and have advised
us that they are perfectly happy to continue doing so because of the quality
of our results.
We charge £100 for the first visit, and £75 if a subsequent visit is
required. We DO NOT MAKE ANY CHARGE if the outcome is less than fully
satisfactory. This charge is fixed, and has remained so for the last couple
of years. This is not a huge sum.
We just get on with doing what we do, and the more people see what we do,
the more students get referred to us. We are not about to stop doing it, so
why not try us. You never know what you might see!
( We now have a Midlands centre, and a North centre, and will shortly be
opening a West Midlands, and two Southern centres, as well as our Central
London centre. )

In my experience, most LEAs agree to funding an assessment with an Intuitive
Colorimeter for Meares-Irlen Syndrome. In the North West, the cost is about
£200.

Cambridgeshire have indicated they will pay for scotopic sensitivity type
test - in fact they were quoted (and accepted) a huge sum for a particular
student to go and see Tintavision as recommended by Access Centre in East
Anglia but student is actually going to see an optometrist locally in NWales
at a fraction of price and LEA have asked to be billed direct. It is
something that is often mentioned in our Access Reports from Bangor, but I'm
not sure how many LEA's accept.
