1)
In Light of the DDA I would like to know how/if other Institutions
have strategies in place for dealing with the learning support
needs of international disabled students and if so, how this support
is being funded. I would also like know which Institutions, like
Westminster, have no strategies in place as yet despite raising
this issue for consideration with Senior Management.
Also, I have only had one response to the request (see below) I put
out last month. I would be really grateful if more people could
share this information.
2)
I am hoping that as many people as possible can share this
information with me, particularly those in London Universities. I
have already contacted HEFCE and they do not collect the data in
this way at the moment and the stats from HESA don't reflect what
I need to establish:
Stats of number of disabled students at your Institution for this
academic year/the past three years if available (with a breakdown
of numbers in each category) Total number of students in each
academic year.
These figures should include all students who declared a disability
and not just those who are in receipt of the DSA and the recording
methods used.
I have been asked to collect this data for our Disability Services
Committee to establish a benchmark. Once I have collated the
data I will be happy to share it with anyone who
wants to see it.
Regards
Katy
