The University of Lincoln wishes to appoint a Disability Adviser
to its Disability Access Resources and Technology service
(DART). DART provides a range of specialist support services
to students with disabilities on all of the university’s campuses.
This is a permanent post but is funded in the first instance under
a HEFCE Strand 1 project to develop high quality services for
students with disabilities. DART also operates the regional
ACCESS Centre, which assesses the support and IT needs of
people with disabilities for the purposes of education, training
and employment.

Scale 6-SO1 Salary: £18,395 - £21,786

You will be responsible for developing and delivering services
for students with a broad range of disabilities. You will
undertake assessments of students’ course-related and IT needs
and produce technical reports. Additionally you will be required
to develop a system for monitoring the progress of students with
disabilities, participate in staff development events and contribute
to the production of policies on disability. Reporting to the
Manager of DART, you must be committed to providing a high
quality service to students, staff, external clients and contacts.
You must be able to work under pressure in the delivery of the
full range of specialist services offered by DART. The post
requires the ability to show initiative and to balance and manage
priorities.
Educated to degree level or equivalent you will have experience
of working with people with disabilities and will be able to
demonstrate a high level of empathy and understanding of the
needs of this group. Experience of working in an educational
environment would be advantageous.
The post holder will be based at the Lincoln campus but will be
required to travel to other University campuses and to partner
institutions in the region.
The duties of this post may necessitate some evening and
weekend working.
