Dear Colleagues
Please excuse posting to several lists but I'm seeking
views on the revised classifications used by the World
Health Organisations [ICF-2]. In particular on the
impact of WHO concepts?
WHO uses concepts as follows……
'Body Functions'
'Body Structures'
'Impairments' - to indicate problems related to the
above
Activity - task or actions executed by the individual
Participation - involvement in a life situation
'Activity restrictions' - difficulties experienced by
individual in executing activities
'Participation restrictions'- difficulties experienced
by individual in involvement in life situations
'Environmental factors' included the physical and
social environment
Personal factors- background of the person etc
If this were adopted enthusiastically, as the basis
for the provision of health and social care services,
and education related services in the UK, would we see
substantial changes?
Could we anticipate improvements?
Thanks for considering this one
