Hi,
Here we pay out of our Disability Premium funding. I argued that in
order to make reasonable adjustments we had to know what was needed. We
used to pay from the Hardship Fund but many of the students we're
eligible to apply to it (e.g. Diploma Nurses) so we needed something
everyone could access.

Subject: Initial Dyslexia Assessment Costs
Hello all
Increasingly we are encountering students who suspect that they
may have dyslexia, but have never undergone an assessment. The
difficulty is that the cost of the initial dyslexia assessment
is not covered by DSA. As the cost of the initial assessment is
usually quite substantial (£150) the students generally cannot
afford to meet this cost themselves. What do other institutions
do in this case? Is there a policy in any institutions whereby
the Hardship/Access Fund meets this cost? Any help/advice would
be much appreciated.
Regards
Norma
