hi
Jean, out of interest, can i ask why EP's in your area do not like it when
dyslexia is mentioned for a first time approaching GCSE's. i take it this is
the case if first mentioned at higher level exams as well? if so, what do
they say about dyslexia being "diagnosed" at university?
cheers

>Forgive me if this is the wrong forum, but can anyone help regarding my
son
who is in year 10 and will be taking his GCSE exams next year. His school
appear to be telling us that it is too late to request recognition of his
dyslexia. We are seeking only the customary extra time - nothing
extraordinary.<
Probably too late if he were doing the exams this year,
but not too late for next year.
And if extra time is warranted,
he should have it in the mock exams as well.

LEA EPs do not like it when dyslexia is mentioned
for the first time when approaching GCSE.
EPs in my area refused to assess for GCSE arrangements
if a pupil had not been drawn to their attention
at some earlier stage in their school life.
This may not apply in your case but I just wondered
if that was why the school was refusing.
