ago, the Language Centre was asked to develop a credit rated
support module for dyslexic students at Brunel. The pilot was scheduled to
run this semester, but the module was not approved by the different Boards.
The general reaction has been that while Board members felt that dyslexic
students should be supported and helped, they had reservations with regard
to the module being credit rated.
The topic will come up again at our Faculty Board meeting tomorrow
(13 March) although it is unlikely that any further decision will be
taken. I would just like to know which Universities run credit rated
support modules for dyslexic students and would be very grateful if you
could let me know. I know that such modules are run at Oxford Brooks and
Sunderland. One 'Better thinking skills' (credited) is run at one
University, but we cannot remember which one.
