Disability Officer (Part-time)
Applications are invited for a new post working as part of a small team in the Office for Disability Issues within the University's Student Support Office. This post will be primarily concerned with making arrangements for appropriate residential accommodation and transport for current students, and advising potential students who have a disability. The successful candidate will assist the Officer for Disability Issues in the development and implementation of relevant policies and work closely with colleagues in this area and a range of University departments and external agencies, such as Social Services.
Candidates must be qualified to degree level and have experience of working with disabled people, plus a real drive and enthusiasm for disability issues. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills are essential, together with the ability to work alone or as part of a team. A proactive and practical approach to the provision of advice and support to individual students and staff is essential. This is an exciting opportunity to gain skills and practical experience in this developing career pathway in Higher Education.
Salary will be within the range £17,451 - £19,486 per annum, pro rata, depending on qualifications and experience. Hours of work are 18 per week, to be agreed.
