Subject: Dragon Naturally Speaking version 6
Hi,
One of our students is planning to upgrade his Dragon Naturally Speaking
Preferred version 5 to version 6. Can anyone advise if this will be
worth his money?
Out IT section is going to be testing it shortly, but the student
doesn't wish a delay.
Thanks,

As far as I have been able to ascertain Dragon Naturally Speaking
Preferred version 6 is only available in World English (American
spellings) not UK English. Therefore colour would be spelt color and
also full-stop becomes period. I've heard there are about 2000 words
with different spellings between UK and US English. It might not be all
that serious depending on the course being studied.
Personally I have found saying period instead of full stop very annoying
when using the Voice-input built in office XP because I'm already
familiar with the commands from Dragon Naturally Speaking.
If your student didn’t already know his way around Dragon it might be Ok
but I personally would wait until the UK version becomes available.
