I would just like to ask who is responsible if the student isn't
receiving the service and goods made in recommendations? As an
Assessor I have a responsibility to address any difficulties that
may arise from my recommendations and also consider requests for
upgrades etc. If the student has equipment that is other than my
recommendations I do not feel I am in a position to make a
re-assessment of needs or make a professional judgement.
If an LEA has selected a supplier of goods other than those
recommended in the report do they then have the responsibility of
supporting the student should they require additional support?
If not does the LEA not have a duty to contact the Assessor to
discuss the implications of going against recommendations?
We recommend suppliers because we know they are able to offer a good
level of support and a good standard of equipment. We also know that
we have a responsibility to meet the needs of the student.
