Hi Katy
Would it not be possible to find out how much other students on the
course are required to carry - possibly via a course tutor. Reading
between the lines of your message it seems that this student is
demanding someone carry an excessive amount for them? Another solution
(other than saying this is not reasonable) might be to have copies of
some books at home and at Uni, although this might at first seem an
expensive it might be cheaper than paying a support worker large amounts
for carrying them for the duration of a course - of course this depends
on how many books, how frequently they are required and the number of
locations. Hope that is of help.
Regards
Paul

Subject: Guidance on Book Carrying
Does any have any guidance on book-carrying that they could
share? ie what it is reasonable for a support worker to carry around
for a disabled student.
Has anyone else encountered problems in this area? we currently
have problems with a demanding student and the amount they
expect to be carried for them.
Regards
Katy
