Hi Sarah
I regularly use the free chat programmes available through MSN or Excite to
talk with Deaf colleagues and friends, avoid ICQ as it is huge.
In my experience many of us deafies are avoiding using minicoms and
typetalk, cumbersome inventions!
Hope this helps
Chris

Subject: hyperterminal problem...
Hi.
Some of you may remember me from when I worked at The
University of Hull. I am currently working at a centre for
independent living as a direct payments worker after escaping from
being a Leonard Cheshire mentor!
Anyway, my colleague who is deaf has a faulty textphone and
because of the Hull phone company and other problems, we are
having problems getting a new one. I have been using
Hyperterminal to ring her from home and have set it up as an
alternative to her textphone, but we can only see what the other
person types. This is not a problem for me as I use word
prediction (Telepathic) so can watch my prediction menu, but my
colleague does not need word prediction and understandably does
not like seeing only one half of the conversation.
Does anybody know of a setting or other package which would
solve the problem?
Thanks in advance and happy new year to old friends!
Sarah
