Checking with "design for access" produced by Manchester city council it
appears that markings (that is the hatching which allows for easy
access) are on the right for each bay, where there are two bays together
this means that the markings are central ie on the right for the left
bay and on the left for the right bay. The spaces/bays should be clearly
marked with the standard symbol on the floor at a size of at least
1400mm. There should also be clear signposts with the orange badge
symbol. There is no guidance as to the colour of the markings. Although
I believe that the hatching should be in blue and the symbol in orange
or yellow.

if you paint it in red face it left, if blue face it right.
if you paint it yellow paint it on a piece of cardboard so it blows
either
way depending on conditions.

Subject: Car Parking Bay's
Dear All,
Could anyone confirm which way the road marking in a car parking bay
for
disabled persons is supposed to face? To the left or to the right as
you
look at it?
