etc that "ordinary employers" won't employ him because "he can't read".
He's looking for contacts in any organisations, institutions, areas of work
where his "otherness" will be valued - great holistic thinking, problem
solving, IT skills and knowledge about what works for dyslexic people.

When your student applies for jobs,

in addition to his work role.
British Dyslexia Association launch employability campaign.
The British Dyslexia Association (B.D.A.) announce the launch of their
employability campaign in October 2002. "Becoming a dyslexia-wise employer"
will be the focus of
Dyslexia Awareness Week: 28 October to 2 November 2002.
The campaign will focus on the issues that face dyslexic people in the
workplace. The B.D.A will be working with employers to raise awareness and
effect change:-
Employers: Employers will be asked to commit to creating a dyslexia-wise
workplace where dyslexic employees can talk openly about their individual
needs and achieve their full potential as part of the team.
Becoming a dyslexia-wise employer: The B.D.A has produced a set of
guidelines, which will be sent to employers of all sizes in the UK.
Dyslexia-wise employer forums: The B.D.A will be running a number of
employer forums, hosted by key UK Employers throughout 2002/2003. Forums
will provide practical advice, the opportunity to ask questions of experts
in the field of adult dyslexia and the chance to compare notes with peers.
Ford Motor Company Limited are working closely with the B.D.A to put into
place best practice for dyslexic employees. The first employer forum will
be hosted by Ford during Dyslexia Awareness Week on Wednesday 30th October.
Speakers include Sir Jackie Stewart, and Surinder Sharma, Ford's Head of
Diversity.
