I believe that what should happen in most universities is that previous
assessments will not be revisited. Most universities have guidance as to the
level of degree to be awarded. This will include the fact that 40-50 will be
a 3rd class, 50-60 a 2:2 etc. It will then go on to say that these marks are
only guides and will give instances (e.g. where the final years marks are
much higher or that most of the marks are in the higher category but one or
two low marks drag them down) where higher awards may be made. This means
that in a situation such as the one that you quote the final board can look
at the marks in the light of the disability. If the student scored an
overall mark of, say, 58% the board may, in light of the disability award a
2:1 rather than a 2:2.

Can other disability advisers, etc please give me some assistance
with my query please?
Could you please advise me on how your institution would proceed
with the following scenario:
3rd year student discloses a disability (clinical depression, had
substantial effect on day to day life - has had for approx 8 yrs now
controlled by medication), didn't realise it was classed as a
disability.
Has asked if assessments from previous years can possibly be
reassessed due to the fact she had a disability at that time (but
institution was not aware of it at the time).
What would your institutions do please?
I would appreciate all advice and assistance on this.
Many thanks
Shari
