I recently responded to an enquiry on DisForum about the
Transactional Model of disability and contributed one
author's (Llewellyn 1999) definition and a reference. This
information was "forwarded" to a Disability Rights Activist
who replied to me off-line with a rant justified by being
"therapeutic". I am willing to debate the medical, social
or any other model you like but find having to defend
myself over the provision of information a distraction I
could do without. Perhaps some members who "forward"
information could perhaps put the contribution in context.
By the way, if anyone is interested in academics who "pimp
off the backs of disabled people..." by, I assume,
contributing to disability discourse, the e-mail may be of
interest to you.
