Lancaster-Miller get involved with this quite regularaly. We always ask
the client to contact the Disability Officer at the nearest Job Centre -
branch offices will refer the case onto the nearest DRO. The DfEE employs
visiting Assessors, much like DSA Assessors, who carry out home visits and
write reports that are considered by the local office and (if the figures
are too high for their clearace)upwards, ultimately by DfEE HQ Sheffield.
Contracts normally run for 3 years with annual reviews but can get
complicated by open-ended needs, in which case single year contracts are set
up. Doesn't this sound familiar?
Apologies if you knew all this already.
Best wishes

This is interesting - a Deaf friend has just asked me how she can get ATW
for her interpreters, etc, as she will be working freelance after October
and will be classed as self-employed.
I couldn't answer - anyone had experience of this?
