Hi All
LIFT is a tool and like many other products (both free and commercial), requires a certain skill level and training to use it. TechDis recommend LIFT to be used by web developers ONLY after they have had both the LIFT training and some training in disability awareness. This will ensure that they are not only aware of the technology issues but also what the issues mean to a user. For those people who are looking at LIFT as a 'solution' they will be disappointed if they are expecting a 'quick fix', time and energy will need to be expended to ensure that standards are met.
As an introduction to the issues we recommend that web developers work through the material at "www.techdis.ac.uk/seven" and apply those through whichever web development tool they are using.
For those people who are thinking of purchasing LIFT TechDis has negotiated a discount (www.techdis.ac.uk/news.html) and are also working with UsableNet to ensure that the product complies with SENDA/DDA legislation, in addition to the US Section 508 legislation, hence UsableNet will be distributing free W3C WAI Priority 2 add-ons to the product in the near future.
