Wow washing machines taking out insurance contracts whatever next. Is this
like a fridge re-ordering supplies over the internet without its owner
knowing?
On the serious side generally insurance contracts are contracts with data
subjects much as Id like to argue otherwise. Even a disclosure that someone
has insurance on a washing machine is personal data. When the spouse
discovers that husband has bought his mistress a washing machine instead of
her things get a bit tetchy all round.
Such incidents happens more often than you may like to believe. Hence the
training on care over disclosures and need for autheticating the person you
deal with which is given to the customer facing staff. Unfortunately in my
experience some do not apply in common sense fashion.
Experience and judgement has a part to play.
