Subject: Upgrading JIScmail to 1.8e
Dear Subsribers
Listserv 1.8e
=============
As some of you may be aware a new version of Listserv, 1.8e, has been
released. It offers many enhancements over the previous version, especially
with regard to the web interface which has been completely revamped.
Here are some of those new features, as detailed in an LSoft press release:
that will be of benefit to subscribers of lists. Other enhancements will
be for list owners and I list some of them that will be interest to users!
- Task Wizards and Help Buttons: Task-oriented wizards simplify list
management and give convenient access to LISTSERV's extensive feature set,
without having to learn complicated commands.
SUBSCRIBERS
- Virus Protection: LISTSERV® 1.8e is secured by F-Secure® Anti-Virus *
- Subscriber Profile Page: Subscribers can manage all their list
subscriptions on a single screen.
LIST OWNERS
- Enhanced Attachment Filter: List owners can choose which types of
attachments may or may not be posted to their lists.
- New Content Filter: List owners can set LISTSERV® to reject
postings that include specified words or phrases.
Jiscmail would like tp point out that all email coming into the JISCmail
server is already scanned for viruses on our mail relays, but this will
add an extra level of protection for users.
Upgrading JIScmail to 1.8e
==========================
The planned date for upgrading JISCmail is:
Date: Tuesday 9th July 2002
Time: 07:00
Duration: Approximately 3 hours
The service will be unavailable during this time, but all mail will be
queued on our relays and processed when the service is back up.
