We have a student apparently with some mental health problems who in a
letter to his tutor referred to some of his difficulties and violent
behaviour . We have been asked by Social Services to disclose this but it
seems to me there are no grounds for doing so other than with the consent of
the individual.
We do not wish to obstruct helping the individual but does anyone know of
any other grounds on which this information could lawfully be disclosed?
