Is anyone up to date with the current position re. use/sale of the
electoral register?
I am aware that following the Robertson case last year, the Information
Commissioner has advised not to use the electoral register for puposes
which are inconsistent with the Representation of the People Act 1983, but
is this merely advice or does it have rooting in legislation?
I have also found reference to forthcoming advice to local authorites on
this issue from the DTLR - is there any news on this?
Finally, has the updated Representation of the People Act 2000 now been
fully implemented or is it just partially in place?
Many thanks in advance,
Nick
