Continuing the discussion of being able to identify data what would happen
in this case.
There is a planning application for 1, Acacia Avenue for a large
conservatory. A writes in objecting and quotes B, a friend of A as being in
favour of her objection. She goes on to say that both she and B are going
to protest at the next meeting. This letter is filed in Planning File for 1
Acacia Ave. Now let's assume B knows nothing of this letter, but hears
about it in the pub. B writes in asking for all details of all data held by
the Authority manual and otherwise. B is annoyed that he has been involved
in such a way as he has no objection to the conservatory.
The planning file is available to view by the public. The letter being sent
by a third party would need to be copied and any personal data deleted
unless A gave permission for the letter to be shown to B.
My point is in this fictitious story is that unless B tells us it is to do
with 1 Acacia Avenue, how do we find that a letter has been filed in that
Planning file.
