You don't prevent crime this way you basically just advise people to go
elsewhere ! >>

But CCTV does not reduce crime, it simply relocates it. Therefore it
achieves the aim quicker if you put signs up, otherwise the perps have to
find out from someone who got caught or by reading in the press that video
tapes were given in evidence.
