Just to clarify the point, the 15 days just applies to schools in England
and Wales covered by the Education Act 1996. See The Data Protection
(Subject Access)(Fees and Miscellaneous Provisions) Regulations 2000 (SI
2000 No 191) para. 5(4).

Yes, Charles, this applies only to schools records - the relevant SI's are
The Education (Pupil Information)(England) Regulations 2000 (SI 2000 No
297). For Scotland I think it's The Pupil Records (Scotland) Regulations
1990 (SI 1990 No 1551). Schools are allowed to charge for hard copy of the
pupils' records. The fees are on a sliding scale ranging from £1 for less
than 20 pages up to £50 for 500+ pages.
