I wonder if anybody has any thoughts on this or perhaps I am missing
something very obvious.... If a college or university has bid for and
received external funding from one of the funding or research councils to
carry out a project, who is in effect the data controller of any personal
data which may be processed? Is it the college who may likely be using its
own employees to man the project and is also hosting it and providing admin
back up etc or is it the external funding body on whose behalf the work is
being carried out. Presumably it would depend on nature of the project and
the terms of the funding? I have been asked this several times recently and
admit I have not yet reached a conclusion. Help please!
