The issue I was raising was whether the Service should notify separately if the nominally responsible officer in the SU is not practicably going to be checking or deciding what we do.

At Exeter our SU is considered to be a separate data controller and as
such has a separate notification and DPO. No doubt I'll be corrected if
I'm wrong, but I think a lot depends on the status of the SU - ours is
distinctly separate from the Uni - ie. has it's own employees etc.
