<<If your organisation meets the criteria in Sched. 1 of FoI then I believe
section 9A of the (amended) DPA "Unstructured personal data held by public
authorities" would apply.>>

The guidance from the OIC contains the following two snippets:
"The [FoI] Act applies to public authorities and those providing services for
them. A detailed list of public authorities is contained in Schedule 1 of the
Act. This includes:
· Government Departments
· Local Authorities
· NHS bodies (such as hospitals, as well as doctors, dentists, pharmacists
and opticians)
· Schools, Colleges and Universities
· the Police
· the House of Commons and the House of Lords
· the Northern Ireland Assembly, and
· the National Assembly for Wales."
and
"Data Protection Act 1998 amendments
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 will make a number of amendments to the
Data Protection Act 1998. One of the most significant is that the definition
of ‘data' will be extended, as far as public authorities are concerned, to
cover all personal information held. This will include ‘structured' and
‘unstructured' manual records. However, only the right of subject access, the
right to correct and limited compensation rights will apply to this new
category of data."
Hope these help.
