I was under the impression that any given e-mail address was exclusive.
e.g. [log in to unmask] - another [log in to unmask] could not exist.
I am not arguing that the portion "123@" should be exclusive in any way.
I am saying that a data controller of [log in to unmask] (as a personal identifier)
has certain legal obligations they have to meet; and that I find a lack of
clarity in the relationship between an account provider and the data subject
in how those legal requirements are properly met by the data subject.

N.B. So Charles and I may be thinking along the same lines but do seem to
diverge when the two parts are put together.
