Is anybody aware of any guidance regarding the re-issue of e-mail addresses
by ISP's?
The question is prompted by a recent experience in setting up a new e-mail
address under a pseudonym.
Having sent only the one e-mail from the new account - to my own account, as
a test; A number of what were clearly spam e-mails started arriving in the
newly created account.
To check the newly created e-mail address had not been released by the ISP,
I set up another account under another pseudonym, no spam.
The apparent conclusion is that the first account mentioned had been
previously created and then deleted by another person, hence existing on the
spam mail lists at the time I created it.
If that were the case there is significant potential for one person to quite
easily receive e-mail intended for another persons.
Prior to approaching the ISP with a question I wished to identify if any
generic guidance existed.
