Thanks for your mail
The main point is that the forum exists for the discussion of concerns and
issues in the data protection field. The forum should not act as a conduit
for commercial organisations. I believe most List-serv owners forbid this
type of activity. I do not appreciate commercial organisations having
access to what is essentially a discussion group. Also , if as you say, your
friend has already placed advertisements in the relevant press they have
presumably paid for it. If there are going to be further instances of
commercial press releases perhaps the list owners should be considering
charging any commercial organisation for this access to all us 'movers and
shakers' in the data protection community.
