Alison,
Security of the equipment, computer systems and health & safety of
individuals are certanly legitimate purposes. We use these as we have CCTV
in our 24 hour access facility.
I would certainly consider use of drinks and food in a lab a health
and safety issue. Water and electrics dont mix, and cleanliness of equipment
is a hygiene matter.
